Russian Blue Buyers Guide

The world is full of great people.. & not so great people.

Be cautious purchasing a Russian Blue kitten! There are A LOT of scams, especially on social media. Every week I speak to at least one person who has been scammed out of $500-$600.

Remember what our parents said, "If something seems too good to be true, it probably is".

Any legitimate cattery owner will tell you breeding Russian Blues requires a substantial investment in time, money & love. With these factors in mind, most legitimate catteries know what their kittens are worth & price them accordingly.

Regardless of whom you purchase you adorable Russian Blue kitten from here are some useful tips to help avoid being scammed:

  • Verify the cattery with TICA, WCF or other reputable association
  • Never pay in cash via money order or Western Union
  • Don't trust a pushy seller
  • Schedule a time to FaceTime the seller so you can see the kitten
  • Ask for the breeders registered cattery name & registration number
  • Never send full payment before a Sales Agreement is signed!
  • If a Russian Blue kitten cost under $1000 be extra cautious
  • Another rule of thumb, if the breeder says they are a certified cattery through TICA, they would NEVER sell a kitten/cat that has not been spayed or neutered, or require proof of surgery before sending registration documents.

See Majestic Blues Cattery "Code of Ethics" page for more information.
